Concert review: Festive repertoire featured in Arrowhead Chorale's 'A Day for Dancing' - Duluth News Tribune
Christmas cantata scored for chorus, winds, and percussion. The Chorale's enjoyable performance of that work, presented Saturday evening at the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Weber Music Hall, made me wonder why it has been so sorely neglected by choirs in recent years. Conductor and composer Pfautsch (1921-2003) represents a lost legacy in American choral music. Pfautsch started his career singing with the legendary Robert Shaw; while on staff at Southern Methodist University, he was as one of a handful of university conductors who pioneered the concept that one could study choral conducting as a rigorous academic discipline in its own right.
